2017 Ford Edge



With the 2017 Ford Edge, you don't have to choose between engaging performance and practical utility. This SUV has been designed to thrill drivers, with several powertrain options available. It can also be equipped with cutting-edge safety features, plus onboard luxuries that will please everyone. Four different trim levels are available, each one coming with a unique mixture of equipment.

The base engine is a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, which provides extreme efficiency and respectable performance. A twin-scroll turbocharger combines with direct injection to maximize every drop of gas. Peak output is measured at 245 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque.

An optional 3.5-liter V-6 provides a more traditional experience. It's rated at 280 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft. of torque, for plenty of performance. Only Sport models use a 2.7-liter EcoBoost, with twin turbochargers and direct injection. It pushes performance to new heights, achieving a peak 315 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque. That's plenty for spirited freeway acceleration and quick starts in the city.

All three engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Paddles mounted to the steering wheel let drivers manually switch gears, giving them greater control. Front-wheel drive is standard on all but the Sport. All-wheel drive provides better handling in all conditions.

SE models come with an automatic stop-start system, if they're equipped with front-wheel drive. It shuts off the engine when the vehicle has come to a complete stop, avoiding idling as a way to conserve gas. Active grille shutters can open to cool the engine, or close to boost aerodynamics. The front air curtain system uses air ducts on the lower front fascia of the vehicle, sending air over the sides of the vehicle.

A number of technologies work to keep drivers and passengers safe. For example, adaptive steering can be added. It's more sensitive at lower speeds, so you can maneuver the vehicle through tight spots with greater precision. At higher speeds, it adds stability, reducing the likelihood of a rollover or other incident. You can also get a 180-degree front camera that's great for seeing around corners, so you can spot cross-traffic with ease. A washer is bundled with it, making clearing the lens simple. Another option is the lane keeping system, which signals to the driver if the SUV leaves lane markings by vibrating the steering wheel. This technology uses a gentle amount of torque to show which way the steering wheel needs to be turned, taking the guesswork out of the situation.

You'll want to stay a while in the SUV's cabin, thanks to its stylish design, quality materials and ample space. You can add some nice touches, such as illuminated sill plates and ambient lighting, with several color choices drivers can select. The Sync 3 infotainment system is easy to control, thanks to clear on-screen icons and intuitive voice controls. Navigation can be added as well.

2017 Ford Mustang


The 2017 Ford Mustang truly lives up to its legendary status in every way. When it comes to performance, the different engine options provide strong acceleration. Handling is superb, filling you with a sense of great capability. The dynamic exterior looks flow into the cabin, where up to four people are surrounded by modern conveniences. Large intake and exhaust valves, plus high-flow ports in the cylinder heads maximize output. One of the best parts is how the exhaust system rumbles appropriately as you press on the accelerator.

For the most extreme experience possible, the GT350 and GT350R use a 5.2-liter flat-plane crank V-8 engine to whip out 526 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque. All of that capability is combined with a MagneRide Damping System, which makes adjustments thousands of times each second, achieving the best handling possible. Brembo brake calipers work with two-piece, cross-drilled rotors for amazing stopping performance. The body was designed for optimal aerodynamics, balanced out with enough downforce to keep the car planted. 

All Mustang models come with an integral link independent rear suspension. It helps reduce body roll and isolate imperfections in the road, boosting handling capabilities. Ford uses rear knuckles and H-arms made of an aluminum alloy to reduce unsprung mass, which also positively impacts handling. As a result, anti-squat capability has doubled, while anti-lift has almost multiplied tenfold. Up front is a double ball joint front suspension, which is perfect for allowing bigger brakes. Drivers can also select one of three available steering effort settings, customizing their experience further.

While the Ford Mustang certainly is a fun vehicle, advanced technologies help make it safe as well. One prime example is the glove box door integrated airbag, which is designed to provide more legroom for front passengers. An SOS Post-Crash Alert System, rearview camera and other features also help guard against accidents and injuries.

When you climb behind the wheel, the Mustang feels comfortable and well laid-out. Controls are simple and easy to find, while the seats are comfortable and supportive. Quite a few amenities can be added to the car, such as heated/ventilated seats, leather upholstery and dual-zone automatic climate control.

2017 Ford F-350


Although the F-Series has been with us for longer than most of us can remember, well since 1948 to be exact, the Super Duty line only went into production as recently as 1998 as a 1999 model year. There's no doubting the incredible versatility and capability of the F-150, especially since its stunning 2015 redesign, but sometimes the job requires something bigger, and the 2017 Ford F-350 certainly fits the bill.

The F-150 definitely stole a march on its bigger Super Duty relations when it went all aluminum on us for 2015, but every dog has its day as they say, and now it’s the turn of the big boys such as the 2017 Ford F-350 to get reinvented in aluminum. Even when the wraps first came off the 2015 F-150, there were doubters out there who thought the same thing couldn't be done with the Super Duty line. Well, here it is now in all its glory, and who's really all that surprised the Blue Oval has managed to carry it off?

The exterior of the 2017 Ford F-350 sees the macho grille dialed down a little into something that looks a bit more macho. The twin horizontal "power bars" have been brought closer together and now have Ford's signature C-shaped headlights at either side and they're no longer surrounded in chrome as they were before. There's also a less-than subtle "Super Duty" stamped into the hood, which will probably look great imprinted into the brick wall it looks as though this truck could go through without much fuss. The bulging hood of the previous generation has been whittled down to smarter creases, and the lower air dam now has a subtle style that prevents it from disappearing underneath the F-350.

The 2017 Ford F-350 follows the lead of the smaller, light-duty F-150 by employing aluminum as the primary material for the construction of the cab and the bed, while the fully boxed frame is made of good old fashioned steel. The frame is comprised of up to 95 percent high-strength steel, and is said to be as much as 24 times more rigid than the underpinnings of the previous model. Ford states that the "military-grade" aluminum used for the cab body of the F-350 is more resistant to dents and dings than the outgoing Super Duty's steel body. However, the big news and the main reason for employing aluminum in place of steel is weight loss, and the new materials have managed to take up to 350 pounds off the new truck, according to Ford.

There are five trim levels of 2017 Ford F-350, which are the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum, and all three Super Duty cab configurations of Regular Cab, SuperCab, and Crew Cab have been lengthened this time around and also feature fresh interior designs.

What hasn't changed a huge amount this year with the F-350 is the capability it offers courtesy of two outstanding engines. There may be just one gas and one diesel option, but between the two they've pretty much got all the heavy-duty bases covered. The gasoline engine is a 6.2-liter V-8 that develops 385 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of torque, which is going to be enough to cope with some pretty demanding applications. However, if that's not enough, it's hard to imagine what jobs would need anything more than the 440 horsepower and staggering 925 lb.-ft. of torque the optional 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 turbo diesel puts at your disposal.

2017 Ford Transit


If you're not yet familiar with the 2017 Ford Transit, you certainly will be before too much longer. The Transit is a cargo van and wagon available in a wide variety of lengths, sizes and configurations, and it certainly had a tough act to follow when it was called upon to finally succeed the legendary E-series/Econoline. However, it was never really going to a problem for a van with this sort of pedigree. Although the Transit name would have been virtually unknown here before it was launched here just a couple of years ago, it's no exaggeration to say it's at least as famous in the UK and the rest of Europe as the likes of the Mustang and Corvette are over here. Since as long ago now as 1965 when it was launched in Europe, Transit has pretty much been the first name in cargo vans, so it was always going to be a success when it was finally introduced over here by Ford.

Even though the nameplate has been in production for more than half a century now, the current 2017 Ford Transit is still only representing the fourth-generation of this astonishingly successful vehicle. For the 2017 model year, the Transit benefits from a number of enhancements across its lineup that have been designed to make these vehicles that are so trusted and relied upon by fleet and small business customers, even more flexible than before.

This year sees the Transit range offering buyers a stunning choice of 64 different configurations, which is an increase of six from the 58 offered last year, and its best-in-class flexibility has helped it quickly become the best-selling commercial van in the United States. A number of new optional features, such as low-profile center consoles and power running boards, have now been made available to help users tailor the Transit even more perfectly to the needs of their particular business.

Among the newly introduced configurations is the 2017 Ford Transit 350 regular-wheelbase van, chassis cab and cutaway with single rear wheels and a 9,500-pound GVWR. The familiar 3.7-liter engine now becomes a standard feature with dual-rear wheel van and wagon models, which effectively lowers the base price and delivers the option of CNG or LPG capability.

There are now three different engines in the 2017 Ford Transit lineup, which all strike a balance between capability and that all-important fuel-efficiency. The range of powerplants starts off with a 3.7-liter Ti-VCT V-6 developing 275 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque, while the middle of the three options is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 producing 310 horsepower and an impressive 400 lb.-ft. of torque.

Those familiar with diesel engines in pickups might be little surprised that the 3.2-liter Power Stroke inline-five turbo diesel offers 185 horsepower and a relatively mild 350 lb.-ft. of torque. But where diesels in trucks are all about grunt and capability, putting a diesel in a cargo van is a lot more about fuel economy than it is about all out capability. The EPA doesn't give the usual estimated figures for this engine as it's only available for long-wheelbase models, but expect it to return somewhere in the region of 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.

Why Ford is #1 When it Comes to Trucks


It's no secret that Ford is a leader when it comes to trucks. In fact, Ford trucks are number one in the business, leaving the competition behind on several important fronts. Plenty of flexible options make Ford a true leader in the industry. 2017 F-150 models with the 5.0-liter V-8 engine can be prepared for compressed natural gas (CNG) and propane through a special package. The setup adds hardened valve seats, intake valves and a unique bi-fuel manifold. With a single flip of the switch, drivers can easily choose to either refuel using gasoline, or one of the two alternatives.

Another key difference for Ford trucks, putting them at number one, is the Raptor. The 2017 model introduces a new look that's striking, plus a number of mechanical improvements. For a well-balance, three-row SUV, the 2017 Ford Explorer is the clear choice. 2017 Ford Escape Review


Instead of wondering which small SUV provides the best all-around value, know that the 2017 Ford Escape is the industry standout. A striking modern design compliments fuel-efficient powertrains, the latest onboard technologies and handling that's downright sporty. It's the type of SUV you can use to get things done, and have a little fun at the same time.

There are three trim levels for the 2017 Ford Escape. They are the S, SE and Titanium.

Ford has made a number of changes to the Escape for the 2017 model year. Among them are a few exterior and interior stylistic tweaks, a completely new 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine, plus the inclusion of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Through the FordPass with Sync Connect app, owners can manage their vehicle remotely.

Three different engines are available for the 2017 Ford Escape. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder is the standard offering for the S trim. It tops out at 168 horsepower and 170 lb.-ft. of torque. No matter the engine, all 2017 Ford Escape models use a 6-speed automatic transmission, which has a manual shifting mode. When equipped with one of the two EcoBoost engines, paddle shifters mounted to the steering wheel are standard. Front-wheel drive is standard, but an intelligent four-wheel-drive system can be added to the upper two trims

Plenty of modern safety equipment is standard on the 2017 Ford Escape, or at least can be added as options. Among the included features are front, side-front and side curtain airbags. 2017 Ford Fusion Review


If you didn't know Ford used to own Aston Martin, a quick glance at the styling of the 2017 Ford Fusion shows influences from those times certainly remain. Even though sedans are finding it harder than ever to find homes with buyers as more and more turn to crossovers these days, the midsize segment remains fiercely competitive. Even in the face of such competition, the superb Fusion remains the car to beat for most observers.

This second-generation of the car first appeared as a 2013 model year, so the 2017 Ford Fusion gets a relatively mild refresh this time around. The main changes have taken place on the inside, although the exterior has had a few tweaks as well for good measure. The fact the manufacturer has done so little to the outside tells you one thing; the Fusion is already the most attractive and stylish car in its class, so you don't mess too much with a winning formula. This may be the fifth model year of this generation, but it looks as though it's only just come straight out of the design studio.

The most substantial changes appear in the cabin with a redesigned center console based around a new rotary shift dial, a new media hub, a pocket for storing a cell phone, a bigger console bin, and a longer center armrest. The feel is now sleeker and more premium than before, and it now moves away to some degree from the super-angular, fighter-jet cockpit look of the Focus and Fiesta.

There's certainly plenty of choice when it comes to the 2017 Ford Fusion lineup, with five trims levels of S, SE, Titanium, Sport and Platinum and four different engines, and that's without counting the hybrid and plug-in variants.

The base engine is a 2.5-liter Duratec I-4 developing a symmetrical 175 horsepower and 175 lb.-ft. of torque. The other three are all EcoBoost units, which have displacements of 1.5, 2.0 and 2.7-liters. The 1.5 and 2.0-liter engines are both turbo-fours putting out 181 horsepower and 185 lb.-ft. and 245 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft., respectively. The most powerful unit on offer is the superb 2.7, and this one's a V-6 that gives you an impressive 325 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque to play with, and it's exclusive to the all-wheel drive Fusion Sport model.

This impressive lineup of trims and engines also means a wide range of prices, so there's a 2017 to fit most budgets. You can pay close to $40,000 for the most expensive model, which is actually the plug-in hybrid Fusion Energi Platinum. However, at the other end of the economic scale, the Fusion S starts from just a touch over $22,000, even though it could be said it still looks a million dollars.

2016 Ford Focus Review

There are a lot of reasons why the Ford Focus has become one of the most popular picks in the compact car market. The sedan is a solid choice for families while hatchback models offer an outstanding amount of roomy goodness. Both are exceptional in safety given the price point. Finally, buyers who want a fuel efficient vehicle that's actually fun to drive can have their cake and eat it, too, with the Ford Focus.

That rare mix is primarily achieved thanks to the powertrain. For 2016, buyers of the Ford Focus have a choice of two engines. The 2016 Ford Focus can be had in three, well-equipped trim levels. All have an interior that both looks and feels extremely upscale for the segment. Many buyers will find the base S trim to be an appealing option thanks to its impressive amount of standard features. A rearview camera system, for example, is found throughout the lineup. Same with blindspot mirror inserts, keyless entry via a fob and a USB port. Ford's unique MyKey, which allows owners to limit select car systems like vehicle speed and even stereo volume, is also standard. All these, and more, are accessible via the easy-to-use controls.

Upgrades like heated front seats, navigation, premium audio and the all-new SYNC infotainment system are available on select trim configurations.

As mentioned previously, the 2016 Ford Focus is on top in providing protection for passengers. Besides the normal assortment of airbags, all models are equipped with an AdvanceTrac stability control system to help keep them out of harm's way. A driver's knee airbag is also standard as well as the rearview camera mentioned above. Advanced safety options like blind-spot monitoring and a lane-keeping system are also available.

2016 Ford F-150 near Indianapolis

Ford's F-150 has been the top-selling vehicle in the U.S. for ages. Don't think the automaker was content to rest on its laurels, though. Last year, the ever-popular pickup underwent a drastic weight-reduction, losing 500 pounds or more thanks for an aluminum-intensive body. Changes are a bit more sedate for the 2016 Ford F-150. There are several new option packages including the off-road-focused FX4, a Special Edition Appearance package for the XLT, and a compressed natural gas and propane fuel-prep bundle. New 20-inch wheels can be had on select configurations and the new Pro Trailer Backup Assist makes guiding an attached trailer into a parking slot a breeze. Finally, Ford drops its MyFordTouch infotainment system and replaced it with the latest version of SYNC 3.

The full-size Ford F-150 is available in three cab styles, three bed lengths, and six trim levels. This give shoppers a huge number of configurations to create the truck of their dreams.

Four engines are also offered. The base 3.5-liter V-6 churns out 283 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque. Tow capacity is up to 7,600 pounds. On the other end of the power spectrum is the 5.0-liter V-8 and its 385 horsepower, similar amount of torque and 11,100 pound tow-capacity.

The other two engines are turbo-charged V-6s cribbed from the automaker's EcoBoost lineup. The 2.7-liter engine offers the best fuel economy among the four engines, while the larger 3.5-liter turbo tops in towing at 12,200 pounds.


All the above engines are mate to a six-speed automatic transmission. Drivetrain is either rear or four-wheel drive.

"The F-150 handles remarkably well considering its size," noted KBB after putting the pickup through its paces, "and whether we were towing, off-road adventuring or cruising long stretches of smooth highway, Ford’s full-size pickup felt right at home."

Automated headlights, trailer sway control, vinyl flooring, cloth upholstery, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and column setup, air-conditioning and manually-cranked windows are just some of the features found standard in the XL, the entry trim into the lineup. The equipment list rapid climbs from there, and ranges from heated and cooled front row seats to a voice-activated navigation system which provides real-time traffic updates and alerts.

Buyers can further customize their F-150. The optional 101A package for the XL adds such niceties as power windows and door locks, a power tailgate, power mirrors, cruise control, and a CD player. The premium Lariat with a 502A package gets LED headlights and taillights, a heated power-adjustable steering wheel, and an 11-speaker Sony audio system. Other options like lane-departure prevention and automated parallel-parking are also offered on the F-150.
